Special Educational Needs

At St Saviour’s CE Primary School, we value each individual child and endeavour to help all children to fulfil their potential. We are very proud of the inclusive nature of our school and aim to cater for each individual, taking particular account of any specific needs or abilities.

We value the individuality of all the children in our school community and we actively seek to remove the barriers to learning and participation that can hinder or exclude individual pupils, or groups of pupils.

St Saviour’s CE Primary School endeavours to meet the needs of children with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability). If a child is not making expected progress, they receive support from the class teacher and/or teaching assistant. Support is reviewed each half term and discussed with the SENCO. Where applicable, children receive additional support from staff within the school. Parents are informed if their child’s progress is a matter of concern and have opportunities to be involved at all stages. Children who are on our SEND register have a School Support Plan which is written in consultation with the class teacher and parents. Targets are set and resources allocated to support the child in achieving these. The SENCO and class teachers meet with the parents of pupils on the SEND register three times a year.
