Hello and welcome to the Nursery Class!
Life in St Saviour’s Nursery is fun and filled with exciting learning. Children learn through our stimulating environment including a wide range of activities and provision that are planned and delivered by caring teachers and support staff.
The Nursery teachers, Mrs Gilmore and Mrs Robson, are supported by Mrs Vasiliou, Nursery nurse and Mrs Southwood, our Nursery assistant. We work in close partnership with parents and carers to make sure that each child is happy, safe and learning as much as they can.
Every day we play and learn in our three special areas. These include: the Nursery classroom; where we can explore and play with mucky materials and paint. The brand new sensory basement area; where we construct, engage in role-play and develop our sensory skills in the ‘Sensory Room’; and the outside playground where we have a water wall, a digging and sand pit and can play with a range of outdoor equipment.
Throughout the year we learn through a wide variety of engaging topics. Some of these include: Ourselves, Festivals, Traditional Tales, Transport, Space, Superheroes and Growing. To keep a record of all the exciting things we have learnt and the progress we have made all children have their own learning journal. We like to choose work to stick in it and look at our past achievements. Alongside this, we use an online observation system called ‘Look@Me’, where parents can safely access their child’s profile to see what their child has been learning.
At the end of Nursery we are introduced to our special Year 5 Buddies who will be looking after us when we move up to the Reception class.
